DownTek water repellant down

DOWN OR SYNTHETIC?
This is the question we poses every time we have to choose an insulating garment or a sleeping bag.

Down? Very light, compressible, breathable, but... better keep it away from water!
  • Synthetic? Great durability, less compressibility, some more weight, but also less affected by humid conditions.
The best solution would be to have a waterproof down... that's exactly what they thought at Down Decor!

Using nano technology and a proprietary application process, Down Decor has created a water repellant down filling. In addition, the nano treatment also provides anti-microbial and anti-bacterial protection, benefits that will be much appreciated by outdoors enthusiasts. While down has long been recognized as the lightest, most efficient insulator for outwear and sleeping bags, the major drawback has been down’s susceptibility to moisture, which greatly decreases down’s ability to insulate. And after down gets wet, it takes a long time for it to dry out and insulate effectively again.

It is worth noticing that the nano chemical used to treat the down, made by a company in Belgium, follows strict environmental friendly criteria, and that DownTek is free of both PFOA and PFOS.
And this is something that we at GO OUT PROJECT appreciate very much!

We can't wait to test this "magic" new down!
