The Rotauf HLT5 is a new, very light, very compact, and very simple avalanche-rescue device that uses a small buoyant marker, connected through a cord to the body, to pinpoint the exact position of a buried person. The concept is analogous to that of an airbag backpack, but this new system drastically reduces weight (the complete HTL5 holster weights only 300g) and costs (the HTL5 costs around 100-150 eur)!!

The ROTAUF HTL5 avalanche marking device has several obvious advantages:
  • It makes avalanche rescue considerably faster and thereby increases the chances that you are found in time
  • It is easy to use. The HTL5 holster can be worn easily and comfortably and to activate it you just have to pull a handle
  • It is very light (only 300g instead of several kilos of an airbag backpack)
  • It is relatively cheap (only 100-150 eur instead of 800-1000 eur of an airbag backpack)
