The end of the season is the right time to get off the Primaloft® insulation jackets and wear something more suitable for the quite warm weather conditions. And that’s what we did wearing the Haglofs Fin Jacket for the last couple of weeks in April 2013.

Specs

The Haglöfs Fin jacket is a Soft Shell jacket, built in Gore Windstopper® membrane, that has been developed for a variety of outdoor activities where warmth and protection are a must. It also features extreme stretch, greater movement and breathability thanks to the Haglöfs FlexAble soft shell underarm panels. The jacket has 4 pocketsuseful to bring your stuff in an efficient way: 2 zippered napoleon type pockets with internal mesh ventilation and 2 mid-mounted zippered hand warmer pockets. The DWR coated surface complete this jacket.

In action

We tested the Haglofs Fin Jacket in a variety of spring conditions from very warm days to windy ones and we’ve never been disappointed. In the very warm days both the thermal qualities of the Windstopper®, the high breathability guaranteed by the FlexAble panels and the ample ventilation zips on the underarms really impressed us. When the wind started blowing we could simply close the zips up and continue to do our activity: no wind got inside the jacket. Furthermore, the Tricot lined collar is simple to adjust and very comfortable next to the skin especially when the snow and the wind are whipping across your face.

The jacket has also a very comfortable fit and everything is in the right place. The 2 zippered napoleon type pockets are well positioned and very easy to access even if a backpack is on. The two hand warmer pockets are very capacious and their position is very strategic since they can be accessed even if the backpack belt is closed.

Even during a high intensity activity such as hiking, we found the Fin jacket very comfortable and the FlexAble underarm panels really useful for temperature regulation when you need it most.

The hood is very comfortable. For its size and the double regulations on the back and on the front it always fits perfectly, both if wearing a helmet or not.

Our verdict

The Haglöfs Fin Hood Jacket is an excellent, versatile, technical, and durable jacket. If you are looking for a high performance and a high quality clothing for mild/cold temperatures, this is what you definitely must have in your wardrobe. It also allows great freedom of movement and is very comfortable.
